Who We Are

The African Child Agenda UK has worked with young people for many years in an unofficial capacity bringing out the best in children & young people in London.

Through our partner organisation, we come into direct contact with children and young people who face extreme trauma, whether through a lack of cultural awareness, bullying, or direct discrimination. We have successfully supported young people to build their confidence and their view of themselves, through our range of child-led activities. We pride ourselves on the amazing work our team do. A third of our workforce are neurodiversent so fully understand the needs of the children that we come into contact with.

Our History

The African Child Agenda UK was born out of the work we do with our other organisation called The Black Child Agenda Advocacy.

The Black Child Agenda Advocacy was set up to address the disproportionate number of Black children being permanently excluded from UK schools. They run an advocacy service supporting families who face discrimination, "Tackling The School to Prison Pipeline". We support families through Exclusion, Disability Discrimination, Appeals, Social Care, and other representation.

However, through our work, we have found there is a need for a longer-term service to address the challenges they face in their either at school or home. With a multisensory approach, and a full 360 understanding of their background and needs, we build their confidence, and self-esteem thus allowing them to access education, training & improve their social skills.

TRUSTED BY THOSE WE SERVE

It often can take a long time to build the trust of a young person who has suffered a traumatic experience. With our history of working with young people through the challenges they may have faced, we have built great relationships with both them and their families. Our workshops are designed with the aim of bringing out their great skills and talents.
